on a side note about membership - if you want to attract more members, update.
the website makes the club look dead. on the main page, update the calendar from 2007 with current meeting info. update the LFS page - i have no idea how long it's been since fintastic was on south blvd. on the forum, update the membership information section, even if to just say the same things again. the only post from 2008 is about t-shirts. two other threads there are out of date/not applicable. |
Thanks for the reminder. This is me just being slack. I need to get my butt in gear. _________________ Wanna be Flat Fish Farmer!

the only thing better that I wish for, is a meeting place similar in size that would be free or of very limited cost to the club. |
I know some city parks have rec rooms that can be rented pretty cheaply.

We rent the space in Atlanta for our auctions for $350 for the day, it's at a Rec dept. Ken _________________ A empty tank is a terrible thing to waste! |

Don't forget to check out some churches... We use a local church which has a large fellowship hall. Just means you have to do everything on Saturdays and can't do it on Sunday. We get a very large fellowship hall for $100 all day. They have tables, chairs and even a little kitchen. If Kernersville (near Winston Salem) isn't too far away from a central location my dad is a preacher at a church there and I'm sure they'd work out a great deal for you.

I totally forgot to put my input into this thread.
This was my first auction, and as I started I was nervous but not afraid to bid. Near lunch time I was chatting up a storm! I met some of the awesomest people I have ever met.
Pro's: Great people, great system. I realy like the color coded tables and screen. Great fish, great deals. Next year I will set up a large tank for all those fish that were going "ok who wll take this fish for a $?"
Con's: The fish in the bags kinda scared me when they were on its side.
Thanks to:
Donna and Jeff, for making me feel welcome both at the auction (donna was the first to greet me) and at our own house.
Ken for being an awesome auctioneer,
To all the runners for their work
Can't wait till next year! |
