For those where this auction will be the first one they attend:
Get a number before the auction
Request a number before the auction.
(1-2 will save you lots of grief the morning of the auction. Depending on the number of people atttending this will be the biggest bottle neck in the process.)
LIVE FISH
Do not feed fish for a couple of days before the auction. This will clean out their guts and keep the water from getting polluted so quickly
Bag the night before the auction not the morning of. It will take you 10X as long to bag the morning of the auction as it would the night before* *This is from personal experience
Make sure to ID the fish properly. This is the most common error during an auction. Common names are most likely the culprit. If you know the scientific name, collection location, Genus, species, etc, put it on the bag. The more info you can give the better.
Pairs and groups sell much better, especially if you are selling juvies.
- >DO NOT BAG FISH IN ZIPLOCK BAGS! These will be taken out of the auction.
More air than water - 2/3 air and 1/3 water when you bag fish. This will ensure good gas exchange and give you fish the best chance of surviving until taken home from the auction.
DRY GOODS
Lots sell better than one single item.
Clean is better but not necessary
If you can find an outlet, if the item is electrical, it works before bidding. There should be an available outlet somewhere in the room.
PLANTS
Large lots sell very well.
Easy care plants sell well - Anubias (For Dino A-NEW-BUY-US), Java Moss, Java Fern, African Fern, Crypts.
Label plants well and maybe an indication of care - easy, medium, hard.
