Sexing:	Females have no spots below the lateral line.
Distribution:	Atlantic slope, in the Grijalva River basin from the Grande de Chiapa drainage in Mexico to Lagartero River in Guatemala.
pH:	7-8
Compatibility:	Very aggressive ambush predator, adults will be difficult to house with most other fish unless housed in very large aquaria.
Breeding:	Substrate spawner; use of a divider is highly recommended for the protection of the female.
